Spring = layers!

In spring, mornings often start off chilly, while afternoons can bring summer temperatures. How do you best take this into account when choosing your cycling clothing? By keeping to the layering principle! In this blog, we share 5 tips to prepare you from head to toe for spring.

#1 Protect yourself from the wind

A good base is indispensable. Choosing the right cycling clothing starts with a good undershirt, such as the AGU Everyday thermal shirts for men and women. These are available in short-sleeved, long-sleeved or sleeveless versions.

Over this you wear a comfortable and breathable cycling shirt, such as the Classic breakaway for men or women. Or a merino cycling shirt. Merino wool keeps you warm when it is cold. On a hot summer day, it actually cools you down thanks to its high breathability.

If there is a lot of wind, a wind body or wind jacket for men or women will prevent you from cooling down on the bike. Additional advantage: these two items fold up very small and fit easily into the back pocket of your cycling shirt.

Expecting rain? Then take the Essential rain jacket with you. Thanks to the excellent breathable membrane in this rain jacket, your body will stay dry and warm during a downpour. The rain jacket comes with a storage bag so you can easily take it with you in your back pocket or handlebar bag.

#2 Leggings or long trousers?

Leg warmers are an essential item in every cyclist's wardrobe. If it's colder, wear them under your favourite bib shorts. If it is still too cold, then a thin bibtight is an option.

#3 Anti cold feet

Find overshoes too warm in spring, but suffer from cold toes easily? Then consider the AGU toe warmers. These prevent the wind from cooling your toes while allowing your feet to breathe. Wearing merino socks is also recommended in this case. Thanks to the temperature-regulating effect of merino wool, your feet will not be too hot or too cold any time soon.

#4 Think about your head and hands too

Many cyclists underestimate how much heat they lose through their head and hands. The AGU gloves will keep your hands wonderfully warm. A hat and turtleneck protect you from the fresh spring wind. Does it get warmer on the way? Then simply store them in your back pocket!

#5 Bring along a handy frame or handlebar bag

In spring, a (waterproof) frame or handlebar bag is no luxury. Here you can safely and easily stow a mackintosh, your gloves or your phone. Our handlebar bags offer just that little bit of extra space. So you always have enough space for your extra stuff.
